Signaling the end of stodgy styling and the advent of V8 power, it's no wonder these cars have legions of fans both young and old. Here we have a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air wagon. Note that back then, the Bel Air was the top of the line model and featured fancier exterior trim, such as the sweeping accent on the body sides, as well as seating upholstered in cloth and vinyl versus all vinyl. Look up close and you'll be impressed by the straight and solid body while the underside is likewise rock solid and well finished. The recipient of a frame-off restoration, this gorgeous example boasts its original sheet metal and looks fantastic in its era-correct, high-quality two-tone paint scheme. The glass, bright trim and weather stripping are all new and this righteous restomod sits on a set of Torq Thrust wheels wrapped with Cooper radials sized 215/75/15. The interior looks showroom fresh and features a two-tone scheme, a '60s 3-spoke Chevrolet sport steering wheel, an electronic AM/FM/Cassette audio system, an old-school column-mounted tach and a trio of auxiliary gauges under the center of the dash. Thanks to a number of upgrades to the suspension and brakes, this '57 rides and handles more like a '97. Specifically, the front suspension is updated with tubular upper/lower A arms, Ridetech "Shock Wave" air ride shocks and a beefy front anti-sway bar. Similarly, the rear suspension boasts a much more modern and sophisticated 4-link setup with the Ridetech air ride shocks. Brakes are 11-inch power discs (slotted and cross-drilled) at all four corners. Motivation comes in the form of a powerful 327 V8 with double-hump heads that's fortified with a Holley carburetor sitting atop an Edelbrock intake. A Pertronix electronic ignition assures reliable spark while exhaust is handled by factory manifolds flowing into dual exhaust pipes that are finished off with sharp chrome outlets. A Super T-10 transmission sends the 327's considerable power to the 3.08-geared rear end via a Hurst Competition Plus shifter topped with a T handle.
